Internet Safety
Under the Children’s Internet Protection Act, K-12 schools are required to provide Internet access and to use a filter system that blocks or filters inappropriate content. Huntley 158 currently uses a program called LightSpeed as its content filtering/blocking software. Under board policy 6:235, all students/families are required to authorize student access to electronic networks annually. This information is included during the registration process.
Huntley 158 takes online safety seriously and it is our goal to protect students from inappropriate material on the internet and to teach them how to be responsible digital citizens. Internet safety education includes lessons on cyber bullying awareness and response as well as appropriate online behavior. See the links below for additional information about online safety and digital citizenship.
