Helping Hands & Caring Hearts: The Volunteers of District 158
Welcome to the District 158 volunteer services web page. We are happy that you are considering offering your services to assist our students! Volunteers are great advocates for learning and they help to create and maintain a nurturing environment and caring community that benefits all students.
Parents, grandparents, retirees, seniors and other members of the community are encouraged to share their time, knowledge/expertise and abilities with our students. There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the year available across the district, some of which include:
- School picture day (elementary)
- Vision and hearing screenings
- Reading and math skills practice
- HHS Medical and Engineering Academy participation
- Career exploration guest speaker, mentor, etc.
- Young Authors program judging
- Elementary events (concerts, art shows, book fairs, field days, field trips, etc.)
- Elementary positive behavior (PBIS) programs
Those interested in volunteering must complete a Volunteer Registration form annually. In keeping with District guidelines, younger siblings are not permitted to accompany volunteers during their school visit. The District appreciates everyone’s understanding that this guideline has been implemented in an effort to sustain a safe and orderly school environment.
The education of our youth takes a community effort and we greatly appreciate our volunteers for offering their time, talents, and knowledge. Together, we can enrich the educational experience for our students and achieve academic excellence for all.
