Raiders Read Together 2024
Welcome back to Huntley 158’s community-wide summer reading initiative!
Explore themes of friendship, empathy, and the beauty of nature in E.B. White’s “Charlotte’s Web”!
This summer we invite all Huntley 158 elementary school students and families to join us in reading “Charlotte’s Web” by E.B. White. On Friday, May 19th, the youngest student in each Huntley 158 elementary school family will bring home the book, an event calendar and a scavenger hunt sheet to help you learn about the program, engage in a family-fun activity, and stay on track with reading over the summer. See below for program highlights:
- Weekly read-aloud sessions hosted by community guest readers will be held on Mondays at 1pm at the Huntley Area Public Library beginning June 10th.
- Families are encouraged to join a community-wide scavenger hunt in June and July in search of the main characters from the book by visiting local Huntley businesses and restaurants.
- On Friday, August 9th during Enjoy Huntley Week, the program will culminate with a movie night showing “Charlotte’s Web” on the big screen at the Huntley High School football field.
We are committed to ensuring that all students, regardless of their individual needs, can fully participate and enjoy the Raiders Read Together experience. If your child requires modified materials, digital resources or other accommodations to engage in this literary adventure, please fill out this FORM and we will see that the materials get to you.
We hope you find joy in this opportunity to engage as a family and community as we explore the important themes of friendship, empathy and the beauty of nature through this timeless classic.
