Student Advisory Representatives

Huntley Community School District 158 is proud to announce the appointment of two student advisory representatives to the Board of Education for the 2025–26 school year and beyond. The student leaders will serve as the voice of their peers and other students across the district, offering valuable insight and perspectives to the board and administration to help guide district decisions and initiatives. The representatives will attend board meetings, participate in discussions, and provide regular updates on student experiences and school culture, but will not be voting members of the board.

About Niko Knanishu

Nikolas (Niko) Knanishu is the president of the student council at Huntley High School. He also serves as a Link Crew commissioner, a Raider Nation leader, and a board member and webmaster for the North Central District of Illinois Student Councils. An Eagle Scout and strong advocate for student voice, Niko worked with the superintendent to co-author an education journal article in 2024 and has been actively involved with the district for several years, including serving on the Huntley 2030: Building Tomorrow Together strategic plan guiding team. Beyond school, he serves in additional leadership capacities driven by his passion for inclusion and student voice.

About Emma Jorgensen

Emma Jorgensen is a member of National Honor Society and is an active member of  the HHS Global Academy. She runs track and cross country and participates in winter and summer running camp training. Emma has served on the Youth Advisory Committee, where she shared her passion for law and government with other students in the Fox Valley Conference. As a camp counselor at the Huntley Park District over the summer, she influenced the younger generation to be involved in the community and follow their passions. She advocates for all student voices to promote inclusivity in Huntley 158.
